Kindermusik Curriculum & Theme Descriptions...
Our Time (1-3 Year Olds)
"Wiggles & Giggles" features songs, activities, and literature books surrounding the ever exciting theme of taking a bath, animal movements, and love for family and friends.

"Away We Go" guides parent and child to explore the exciting world of things that go! Singing, dancing, and developmentally appropriate activities lead this transportation adventure to the discovery of trains, cars, buses, horses, wagons, airplanes, and boats.

"Milk & Cookies" empowers the parent to lead the child through familiar, everyday home activities such as cooking, dusting, and washing clothes. Baking cookies, eating cupcakes, blowing on hot cross buns, wiggling like jelly, going grocery shopping, and making tea are all represented in familiar songs and activities!

"Fiddle-Dee-Dee" takes its name from the beloved folk song about the fly who married the bumblebee and the theme of "fiddling around" is present all throughout the semester. Creatures from the animal kingdom, whether furry, web-footed, winged, or whiskered are explored in this unit.

Our Time Music At Home Materials include 2 music & movement books, a home activity book, 2 home CDs, a child's carry box/bag, and a specially designed instrument.
Imagine That! (3-5 Year Olds)
"See What I Saw" takes the child on an imaginary trip to Grasshopper Park where they sail down the park slide and then recreate the sound of that experience with a long vocal glissando. Recreating this experience at home is a snap with the park play set complete with trees, grass, a fence, a lake, two children, a sailboat, and more. Imagine That!

"Toys I Make, Trips I Take" leads the child on a magical journey into a remarkable toy shop filled with boats, trains, balls, jack-in-the-box, and many other toys that bring a glimmer into a child's eyes. While the excitement may begin in the toy shop, it may end on a tropical island. Imagine That!

"Hello Weather, Let's Play Together!" explores sunshine, rain, snow, thunderstorms, and more in this imaginative and delightful weather-related musical adventure. Whether creating storm sounds on a drum or throwing pretend snowballs, children and their families are encouraged to get outdoors and enjoy the world around them. Imagine That!

"Cities! Busy Places, Friendly Faces" transports the child into a Kindermusik city, where ordinary sounds and sights on the streets make a musical ensemble. People shuffle their feet to a 4/4 beat. Street musicians serenade and sing. Clock towers boom, bellow, and ring. You and your class will co-create a city that's familiar, yet like no other. Using Kindermusik's visual tools and home activities, children will transform the classroom, build a city out of handcrafted "buildings" and walk down sidewalks made of masking tape and freezer paper. Imagine That!

Imagine That! Music At Home Materials include a pretend play manipulative component, a literature component, a family activity book, 2 home CDs, an Imagine That! backpack, and a specially designed instrument.
Young Child (5-7 Year Olds)
Semester 1 broadens the child's musical experience through the introduction of the glockenspiel. Learning how to keep a steady beat plus reading and writing musical notations will help a child lay the initial groundwork for musical success!

Semester 2 further develops the child's instrument-playing skills while developing the greatest instrument of all - the voice! Pressure free, developmentally appropriate concepts help effectively prepare children for formal music instruction after age seven.

Semester 3 builds on the child's natural interest in musical instruments with an introduction to the two-stringed dulcimer! Learning about Appalachian music and the dulcimer's heritage sets the stage for a sampling of Native American music.

Semester 4 explores multi cultural music - from Japan to Hawaii to Africa, just to name a few! Children will learn basic notation concepts on their first wind instrument - the recorder - while gaining confidence and appreciation for their own musical gifts.

Young Child Music At Home Materials include a children's folder, a games bag, a family songbook, a home CD, a carry bag, and a specially designed instrument.
Adventures (1-7 Year Olds)
"Creatures in my Backyard" encourages parent and child to explore their backyard environment and make new discoveries. Through music, movement, dance, storytelling, and instrument exploration, backyard creatures - from birds, turtles, squirrels, and rabbits to flowers, caterpillars, and bumblebees - will be uncovered and celebrated!

"Creatures at the Ocean" introduces parent and child to many waterfront friends, including the seagull, crab, dolphin, octopus, and whale. Beach fun is the focus with beach ball play, sand play, and sheet-simulated waves! Explore ocean movements such as a whale spouting, sing to delightful music including a lively Calypso tune, and make music with unique instruments such as shakers!

"Confetti Days" is inspired by children, songs, play and celebrations, and employs an integrated approach - music is woven throughout with movement, art, language, drama, play, and storytelling. Songs and activities were selected to represent ways children all around the world celebrate the joy of simply being children!

"Around the World" takes the child on an imaginary trip - exploring the exotic cultures of Germany, Japan, Africa, England, and Mexico. Activities incorporate music, dance, drama, and instruments native to each country as well as arts and crafts such as making decorative African masks and Mexican Pinatas. Ole!

"Near and Far" encourages the child to explore and appreciate unique environments all over the globe. Through imaginative activities, your child will learn about the climate, vegetation, inhabitants, and history. Through music and movement, he or she will "smell" and "see" a host of flower and plant life, "run" with wildlife bounding through the mountain tops, and "explore" the rich habitants of a rain forest.

Adventures Music At Home materials vary by theme but generally consist of a combination of the following - picture folders, a home CD, a stuffed animal hand puppet, a specially designed instrument, story cards, arts and crafts materials, and a travel bag.
